Stir-Fried Cabbage and Pork with Amazake Miso

Servings: Serves 2-3

  • Ingredients

    • Thinly sliced pork: 200g (7 oz)
    • Cabbage: 150g (5.3 oz)
    • Grated garlic: 1/2 teaspoon
    • Oil: As needed
    • [A] Amazake (a sweet fermented rice drink): 3 tablespoons
    • [A] Miso: 2 tablespoons
  • Preparation

    • Roughly chop the cabbage and cut the thinly sliced pork into bite-sized pieces.
    • Heat oil in a frying pan over low heat and add the grated garlic. Once the garlic becomes fragrant, increase to medium heat and add the pork, stirring to cook.
    • Once the pork changes color, remove it from the pan and add the cabbage, stir-frying until cooked through.
    • Return the pork to the pan, add ingredients [A], and stir-fry everything together until well combined.

Notes

If you cannot find amazake, you can substitute with a mixture of sake and sugar, though the flavor will differ.
